The Iraqi Army is using its new attack choppers to hunt terrorists around Samarra and Fallujah.
The Iraqi Army operates around 40 Mi-35 gunship and Mi-28NE attack helicopters received from Russia between the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014.
Along with the AC-208 Combat Caravan, a COIN (Counter Insurgency) version of the civilian Cessna 208 Grand Caravan aircraft equipped with Hellfire missiles, the choppers are used for border patrol and antiterrorist operations against ISIS (Al Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) group that is particularly active in the area of Fallujah, Ramadi and Mosul.
On Jun. 6, ISIS militants stormed the city of Samarra before being ousted from the city by airstrikes from the Iraqi military.
The following video, released by the Iraqi Army, reportedly shows the Mi-35 gunships attack a convoy near Samarra (most probably filmed by an AC-208 Combat Caravan).
By the way, Iraq is getting a lot more new hardware, including 36 F-16 Block 52 multirole planes.
