Here Is Something You Don’t See Everyday.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) operates two Canadair CL-415MPs accepted by the APMM in 2009. Coded M71-01 and M71-02, both aircraft are normally based at Subang/Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (WMSA) RMAF (Kuala Lumpur).
Both aircraft took part in LIMA 17 at Langkawi.
M71-02 suffered the loss of its starboard outboard float during a practice flight on Mar. 22, 2017, while taking on water from the Andaman Sea. The photos in this post, taken by our contributor Tony Lovelock, shows the Canadair water bomber aircraft on final, recovering into Langkawi International following loss of the float.
